Out-of-This-World Swing Music! Girls from Mars capture the essence of a music that was born in smoky bars in the 1930’s. True to that tradition, their intuitive harmonies are a joyous remembrance of the swing era.
Annie Patterson (vocals), Lauren Janson (vocals) and Wendi Bourne (vocals/guitar) are the Girls from Mars. They are joined by 2 guys (from Earth!): Ralph Gordon on bass (a founding member of the band Trapezoid) and Howard Sitron on trumpet. The chemistry between these musicians is undeniable and quite infectious
Girls from Mars have performed at Swing dances, concerts and festivals in Philadelphia, Boston, New Haven CT, Delaware, New Jersey, and New York. This is their first time in New Mexico. Originally based in the Philadelphia area, singer Lauren Janson now hails from Glorieta NM. Other band members currently reside in MA, IL, WV, and PA.
Playing tunes recorded by the Andrews Sisters, the Boswell Sisters, Cats ‘n the Fiddle, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, among others, the Girls from Mars will get your feet tappin’ and your hands clappin’. You might just have to get up and dance!
