A combination of unabashed bluegrass and stomping, swampy blues that offers it's allegiance to authentic Americana origins, a rousing combination of banjos, fiddles, mandolin, and ragtime revelry. It is fun stuff indeed.
Meet The Howlin’ Brothers, a Nashville-based band that likes to keep one foot in tradition…and use the other to kick it right out the door. The Brothers inject a healthy dose of upbeat bluegrass directly into the rougher variety of blues, a kind of Muddy Waters meets Bill Monroe take on music that also incorporates elements of folk, soul and gospel. Formed at Ithaca College a few years back, the Brothers (who are not actually related) build their stomps and hollers on a solid structure of upright bass, fiddle and banjo, punctuating and peppering their blues-grass with slide banjo, harmonica, old-timey fiddle, and heartfelt vocals. Their latest release is titled HOWL. If you dig raw kick-ass country folk, you’ll want to catch this one.
